Arapeen Trails

Things to Note:
  • ​PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST TRAILER YOUR OWN ATV/UTV TO THE SELECT TRAILHEAD/STAGING AREA (SEE RIDE DESCRIPTIONS)​
  • Each participant must be responsible for his/her own health and well-being along the trail.  If you have particular medical or physical limitations, but decide to go anyway, please make your guide aware of your condition.
  • ATV trails are not intended for high speed riding.  It is necessary that all participants stay with the group, remaining behind the front guide at all times, for the safety and peace of mind of the entire group.  ATVs/UTVs must be in good mechanical condition.
  • Trails are subject to change

​RIDE DIFFICULTY DEFINITIONS:
  • BEGINNER:  These rides are almost wholly on maintained dirt roads.  Some of the beginner rides may include short moderately steep sections or switchbacks.
  • INTERMEDIATE:  Intermediate rides generally include some road and ATV trail portions with some steep, rough or challenging trails. 
  • ​ADVANCED: Advanced rides will generally include portions that are steep, rough, and otherwise difficult to maneuver. 

Trail Descriptions

Hole Trail

​Approximate Mileage:  70 Miles
Staging Area: Must trailer to​ (23 miles to Emery)
Day Available: Wednesday
Departure: 7:00 AM
​

This ride begins from Emery town (elevation 6,200 ft to 10,000 ft). From there, you will go to the Muddy River then up the Hole Trail passing superb views and great geology to Flagstaff Peak and Spinners Reservoir.  Then drop down and across the Muddy at the Lower Crossing, then up to the Skyline past Blue Lake and head toward White Mountain.  You will then go back down Black Fork to Wildcat Knolls and drop down Link Canyon back to Emery Town.  This affords great views of up to 100 miles away! 

Black Dragon

Departure: 8:00 am

This ride will head up Ferron Canyon to Black Dragon Trail then on to Horn Mountain. Along the way you will visit the communication site with a birds-eye view of Castle Valley and the San Rafael Swell.   From there, you will make a loop around the cap of Horn Mountain (elevation 9,000 feet) and return to camp. ​

Six Miles Ponds

Day Available: Thursday
​Departure: 8:00 AM
​

This ride will leave from Ferron and head up to Willow Lake (elevation 9,650 ft).  From there, you will head down to Singleton Flat and cross Indian Creek to Mcewen Flat.  Then, climbing above the treeline you will go past Cove Lake and Jet Fox Reservoir to Skyline Drive.  You will then head drop down through Georges Fork to Duck Fork Reservoir and ride the gravel road past Ferron Reservoir back to camp. 

Big Mountain Ride

​Approximate Mileage:  62 

Staging Area: Leaves from base
Day Available: Friday
​Departure: 8:00 AM

Ride to the top of Ferron dugway (~8,200 feet). From there, you will go past Wrigley Reservoir then to Spineer's Reservoir. You will then travel along the South Side of Big Mountain and cross Skyline Drive at 12 Mile Flat. You will then head down the other side of the mountain into 6 Mile Canyon, then back up to Skyline and drop down to Ferron Reservoir and Willow Lake and back to camp.  This ride is mainly on maintained Forest roads.

Littles Creek Loop

Staging Area: Must trailer to (40 miles to Joe's Valley)
Day Available: Friday
Departure: 8:00 am 

This ride begins at the Reeder Trailhead.  From there, you will head up the dugway to Grassy Lake, then across Skyline Drive where there are fantastic views.  Then headed to Pete's Hole, then through Middle Mountain and back to Joe's Valley Reservoir.
