Buckhorn Indian Panel & Little Grand Canyon

This ride begins at the Buckhorn Information Center.  From there, you will travel to the Wedge Overlook trail for a view of the 'Little Grand Canyon'.  You will then head down into Buckhorn Draw to view a dinosaur track, the Buckhorn Panel, and the Swinging Bridge that spans the San Rafael River. From there, you will travel out of Buckhorn Wash and head to Furniture Draw to the Historic Chinese Railroad. You will then head back to the Buckhorn Information Center.

The Merry Go Round is a 70 mile loop that takes you through the heart of the San Rafael Wilderness area.   Traveling South to the San Rafael River Crossing at Fullers Bottom.  You then follow the West rim of Salt Wash, which is the West boundary of the Wilderness area, then drop into Cole Wash traveling to Slipper Arch and Fix it Pass. The top of fix it pass is halfway (32 miles). From there you travel through Saddle Horse Canyon over the pass into Cane Wash. This area is a trail and can be challenging. Cane Wash (the East boundary of the Wilderness Area) takes you through a sandy wash to the main road near the Swinging Bridge.. When you hit the main Buckhorn road you travel Northwest back to the Buckhorn well.  On this ride you can see two rock art panels, slipper arch, and the Swinging Bridge, plus beautiful scenery all the way.

This ride begins on Box Flats approximately 27 miles from base camp.  From here you travel on parts of the 'Old Spanish Trail.'  While on the trail, you will see an old time Cowboy cave along with a beautiful arch.  From there you visit the Big Hole where the Spanish travelers watered their cattle.  We will ride north into the Summerville area, visiting some old brick structure dwellings, then head towards Chimney Rock along the base of Cedar Mountain.  While on this trail you will negotiate several washes along with roller coaster terrain.

Humbug/Dinosaur Quarry/Cedar Mountain

The Humbug area is pretty unique as it is the home of the Jurassic National Monument (or formerly known as "Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry).  As we travel in this area you will have an opportunity to see some Indian writings (unprotected, but interesting to see).  There is a hiking requirement where writing are approximately 75 yards, easy hike in the wash.  From there we will visit the Jurassic National Monument for an approx 30-60 mins stop. From there we will travel up the north face of Cedar Moutain to a recreation area/picnic grounds.   There are beautiful overlook sites from various spots on the mountain.
